Nowra to Batemans Bay 122km - 1hr 30min
For a secluded picnic and swimming area, try
Comerong Island, a nature reserve east
of Nowra. Accessible by car ferry, a winding
dirt track on the island will take you to the
southern end of Seven Mile Beach. There are
two picnic spots on the island with access
to the beach and estuary.
Jervis Bay is well-known for its extensive national
parks and marine wonders. It is a popular scuba
diving and snorkelling area, with shipwrecks
to explore, and its own pod of dolphins which
live in the bay year round. Whales can also be
seen off the coast between June and July, September and November.
Situated on the shores of Jervis Bay, Huskisson is the gateway town for exploring Jervis Bay and home to the Lady Denman Heritage Complex. Nearby Hyams Beach is reputed to have the whitest sand in the world. Caves
Beach and Green Patch in Booderee National Park are popular spots for back-to-nature camping experiences. Glimpse the history of the area through local eyes with a bush tucker tour, providing the opportunity to taste
bush food and discuss Aboriginal law and history around the campfire.
Milton is a charming coastal village where local artistic talent is showcased in the colourful art and craft shops. The township also features sidewalk cafes, antique shops and markets. Mollymook is a popular seaside holiday spot, famous for its golf courses and family beaches, like Narawallee Beach. Ulladulla is a pretty coastal town and a wellknown deep sea fishing area. Take a walk on “One Track For All” on the northern headland, a trail of paintings and carvings which tell the story of the history of the area. South-west of Ulladulla is the southern end of Morton National Park where you’ll get great viewpoints of its prominent natural feature, Pigeon House Mountain.
Bawley Point has a great surf beach and horse riding is available in the area. The Murramarang Aboriginal area features interpretive signs for the archaeological evidence of Aboriginal occupation dating back 12,000 years.
The rugged coastline at Murramarang National Park offers accommodation nestled right on the beachfront. There’s a range of walks in the surrounding national park, home to a variety of native wildlife. On hot days the kangaroos of Pebbly Beach bound along the sand to take a cooling dip in the surf.
